Esan Central: Community Security Police Apprehends Baby Sellers

As Security challenges gradually overwhelms the country, Edo state inclusive, the Security Police in Idumebo Community, Irrua, of Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, Edo state, on Tuesday 9th of June 2026, apprehended a couple, Monday John and Charity Jacob, both from Benue state, in their attempt to sell a baby girl they stole from the mother who the suspect, (woman) claimed to be her sister.
It all started when the couple called someone in Irrua to inform him that they have a baby to sell. In the course of the conversation, another person eavesdropped on the the conversation and showed interest in the said 'transaction', saying, he has someone who might be interested in buying the baby, unknown to the sellers that he was only interested in exposing the heinous deal.
The whistle blower, reported the matter to the leadership of Idumebo Security Network, and they in turn reported the developing crime to the police; eventually, a trap was set for the crime suspects who brought the baby from Ekpoma to Irrua for sale, this was how they were eventually apprehended and handed over to the Police.
Speaking with Esan Magazine on phone, Mr. Abraham Osoba, the head of Idumebo Security Outfit, who advised parents to always monitor their children and also be careful of who they trust with their children, also advised people to report any suspected person or movement to law enforcement agencies, saying; "if you see something, say something".
As at the time of filing in this report, the mother of the baby has been identified and also in police custody, as preparation is underway to transfer all the suspects to Edo State Police command in Benin.
