OPINION:
Endorsements of Eseigbe: Nemesis to Onobun?
By: Oriaifoh Godwins
I have always maintained that: "every action, has an equal and opposite reactions", but some wave it off as mere talk.
We live in a natural world, though ruled/controlled by the spiritual world, where what you sow, is what you will eventually reap.
Hon. Sir Lucky Eseigbe may have sowed some good seeds in the past, that is eventually culminating into his imminent victory in the upcoming Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal constituency election, I don't know, but I do know that Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun sowed some seeds in time past, that some people that were at the receiving end of those 'seeds' sown by Marcus Onobun, are yet to recover from the dent and scars it made in their lives.
For those that still remember the infamous midnight inauguration of Monday, June 17, 2019, where only 9 out of 24 members elect were Inaugurated into the 7th Assembly of EDHA, will recall the role that Marcus Onobun played, before, during and after the infamous, embarrassing and undemocratic midnight inauguration that barbarically schemed 14 members-elect of Edo State House of Assembly out of a so called 'inauguration' that held in the dead of the night, where thugs were used to 'flog' unwilling members elect into line. I said it at that time, I wrote and reminded those that jubilated over the Injustice, by borrowing the words of late Dele Giwa, that: "Every Injustice done to man, will definitely be repaid. If not by man, definitely by God"; but to my warnings, many danced and sang: "Pepper dem, Bolanle, Pepper dem oooo". Today, nko?
Those that still remember the shameful inauguration will remember what happened at Golden Tulips Hotel in Benin where those 14 members-elect were forced out of Edo State, on exile to Abuja... But today, Adolf Hitler Obaseki, under whose watch all these rascalities happened, is himself not just out of Edo State, but out of Nigeria; on exile? So power is transient, not forever?
Can somebody ask Marcus, what role he played in the activities that happened at Golden Tulips Hotel, where hundreds of thugs stormed the hotel with dangerous weapons in search of the 14 Members-elect who were only there for a press conference? I am making reference to this scenario, because I was there; I saw everything that happened, I was not told. I know who used a Sienna vehicle to block the entrance to the gate of the hotel, to prevent those members elect from escaping for their lives.
Fast forward to Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, that was almost grounded by Obaseki, even when Marcus Onobun was the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly... The question to ask is: what role did Marcus Onobun play in emasculating AAU? I can vividly recall that some women in Ujemen at that time, went to the University gate and rained curses upon curses on those that are working to destroy the University. Thank God that the University is back to life today, all thanks to Akpakominza.
What is happening to Onobun today, should be a good lesson to others, who feel you can ride on people's back to rise, and do anything that suit your interest to remain on top, irrespective of whoever is affected by your actions, so long as you are rising. Such people should remember that when they eventually fall, they will meet those people that they trampled on, when they get down the ladder.
Unfortunately, Marcus' situation is more glaring today, however many names that were making waves 'yesterday'; are not heard or mentioned anywhere today, for same Me, Myself and I reason.
While I pity the impending aftermath of the upcoming election on Marcus Onobun, because, he may eventually go into history as the first House of Representative member to represent Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal constituency, to be denied a second tenure, I want everyone that has the opportunity to read this piece, to be reminded that, karma is real and every action, definitely has an equal and opposite reactions.
Finally, I ask the question: If your book of remembrance is opened, will you be proud of what is written therein?
