APC Primaries In Edo Central: Nemesis, Still Playing Out
By: Oriaifoh Godwins
I have been following the 'words of war', that has been crisscrossing between the supporters of Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, and Sir Barr. Lucky Eseigbe, since the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Primary elections that held on Saturday, May 16 2026, and I can only come to one conclusion: NEMESIS IS STILL PLAYING OUT.
Some may recall that, on the 10th of May, 2026, I voiced my opinion, captioned: Endorsements of Eseigbe: Nemesis to Onobun? and published in Esan Magazine... https://esanmagazineonline.blogspot.com/2026/05/endorsements-of-eseigbe-nemesis-to.html
Many hailed it, while it didn't go down well with some people, but one thing remains, what I wrote, is a true reflection of all that happened in 2019, when some people saw themselves as the Alpha and Omega, hence cann do and undo.
What is happening in the Political atmosphere of Edo state, particularly, Edo Central, today, is the seed that was planted many years ago, when 14 Members-elect of Edo state House of Assembly, were callously schemed out of an infamous midnight Inauguration.
For those that may have forgotten, let me rejig your memory by reminding you that, those 14 EDHA members-elect, on the.....condtituted a parallel House of Assembly, and got themselves Inaugurated, under very tight security, hence, a two Houses of Assembly emerged in Edo State: one loyal to Mr. Obaseki, the other, because, they were more in number, loyal to democracy.
Those 14 Members-elect, were going in and out of Abuja, trying to use their Abuja connections to make Obaseki see the need for a one House, but Mr. Godwin Obaseki stood his ground, as many shamelessly hailed him on. Today, it was said that Marcus Onobun, was going to and out of Abuja to get endorsements, before the APC Primary. Wooooow, so, Nemesis is real?
Do we also recall that those 14 guys were going in and out of courts seeking justice, while Mr. Obaseki was going from one court in PortHarcourt to Benin, to Ekpoma, getting court injunctions to restraint the 14 Members-elect or their agents from challenging what the National Assembly, NASS, described as"Executive Rascality"? So also, Marcus Onobun may follow same route. People of Edo State are waiting... Nemesis?
One lesson in all of these, is when you see something that is not right, don't support the 'wrong'. It is better to stay neutral; let your name not be counted amongst those that supported evil.
I hope we have not forgotten that the National Assembly, the House of Representative and Senate, set up a commitee to resolve the issue that ensued as a result of the Midnight inauguration? I also hope we still remember that they came to Edo State, and made the then state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to see reasons why he should allow for a one House of Assembly? At that time, while the 14 members got their support and sympathy from Abuja, the other nine, were busy whining and dining with Obaseki, and those that are crying foul today, hailing and celebrating the shameful wrongdoing. Today, nemesis is speaking loud and clear. Earnestly, I feel for those guys. I feel their pains, because I can relate with their situation.
Those that hailed Obaseki, Phillip Shuaibu, Osarodion Ogie, Frank Okiye, Marcus Onobun and others, for the Midnight inauguration, are those talking about DEMOCRACY today. Do they know what democracy is all about?
Anyway, maybe a legal battle will eventually follow the claim by some, that Marcus Onobun won, and that may eventually result to another situation.
We can also look at the situation from another perspective: for example, the Okpebholo Federal constituency, has been rotating the position of the House of Representatives Member between Esan Central and Esan West, leaving Igueben out, but as it stands today, if APC is unable to resolve this crisis, the cap may eventually fall on the head of any candidate from Igueben, irrespective of the political party he belong to.
Today, somebody wrote that, the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representative Hon. Tajudeen Abbas have congratulated Marcus Onobun for his victory in the just concluded primaries, even as Lucky Eseigbe, was reported to have scored 6,897 votes while Marcus Onobun scored 1,017 votes. Hahahahaha.... CINEMA. We have watched part one, and part two, we are waiting for part 3; by the time we see THE END on the screen, everybody go enter house. I HATE WHAT I DON'T LIKE.
