Edo Central PDP Taproots, LP Edo Central Senatorial Candidate, Defects To APC

Today, Tuesday 14th April 2026, at Eguare Primary School, Irrua in Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area of Edo state, the mammoth crowd that gathered to celebrate the defection of Senator Clifford Akhimiemona Ordia, Rt. Hon. Joe Edionwele, and Hon. Osaremen Omofuma to the All Progressives Congress, APC, signalled the reinforcement of the APC in Edo Central and the total exit of the PDP from the political radar of Edo central.
Senator Clifford Ordia, the former Senator representing Edo Central, Rt. Hon. Joe Edionwele, former member that represented Esan west/ Esan central/Igueben Federal constituency, Hon. Osaremen Omofuma, the Labour Party candidate for Edo Central Senatorial district election, Hon. Adekunle Oboh, the name synonymous with the PDP in Esan Central, and many other Peoples Democratic Party 'heavy weights' and foot soldiers of Mr. Godwin Obaseki and Asuelimen Ighodalo, in the 2023 Edo state gubernatorial election, have all aligned with and are ready to work for the actualisation of the 2.5 million votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 Presidential election, as promised by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo state.
The APC rally, for receiving the defectors, that eventually turned to a political jamboree of some sort, attracted a lot of crowd from within and outside Esanland, even as the members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were also Inaugurated.
Speaking on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Tinubu, Hon. Sylvester Oigboboh, the Edo state APC Vice Chairman, who is also the coordinator for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, itemised the achievements of President Tinubu and governor Monday Okpebholo, adding that; "Edo people now has their Hope Renewed". Hon. Oigboboh revealed that,the Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to function by carrying governance to the grassroots, and carrying grassroots back to the government. He added that, to be a Renewed Hope Ambassador, is to be able to carry responsibilities that demands discipline, accuracy, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the project.
With the defection of the Political bigwigs in Edo Central Peoples Democratic Party, and Labour Party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo Central, are more confident than ever to win at least ninety eight percent of votes in future elections.
Receiving the defectors, Hon. Oigboboh, described them as election tested and trusted individuals.
Speaking after his acceptance to the APC, Senator Clifford Ordia said; "...we have come with all sense of humility to join our brother, Governor Monday Okpebholo to ensure that Edo state has a defined development". He continued by making what he called a "Clarion call" to all Esan people in particular, and the people of Edo state in general, that, the time has come to support what is good; saying; "Governor Okpebholo is working and we have come to join him".
Finally, Governor Monday Okpebholo, who welcomed the defectors to the All Progressives Congress, APC, family, pointed out that, the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has freed up resources; and such resources are now being used to fund development projects across the country.
Governor Okpebholo said; "That is the money we are using to work all over Nigeria today. The President’s actions reflect a strong belief in Nigeria’s future and long-term prosperity,”
He described President Tinubu as; "a leader committed to Nigeria’s long-term growth and stability".
He further insisted that Edo State was prepared to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
