Ojuromi Suspends Seriki Hausa In Uromi
By: Our Correspondent
His Royal Majesty, Anslem Edenojie II, The Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo state, has suspended the Sariki Hausa of Uromi.
The suspension took effect from Saturday, 21st March 2026.
Reports say the Sariki attempted to set up a parallel kingdom within Uromi Kingdom, and acting as a king, hence undermining the authority of the Ojuromi, the traditional ruler.
The action of the Seriki, lays credence to the suspicion that, the strangers, particularly those from the North, of the Hausa and Fulani origins have a sinister motive to occupy Esanland and displace the original inhabitants.
Commenting on the matter, an indigene of Uromi Kingdom, who does not want his name in print, said; "...these people are in our land to take our land. This is no longer a time to watch from the sidelines. Every son and daughter of Esan Land must stand firm and support the traditional rulers of our land".
Continuing, he said; "...make no mistake about it; these are the same individuals fueling the killings and unrest in our land. Our unity, our resolve, and our loyalty to our kingdom will determine the survival of our land and our people".
It will be recalled that, some years back, a tribe that described themselves as the Shuwa Arabs attempted to install an Emir in Benin city, but they were vehemently resisted by the people.

Swift and prudent action taken be the Ojuromi of Uromi
