Irrua Market Stalls, Not For Sale

….Esan Central LG Chairman again, warns

The Chairman, of Esan Central local Government, ECLG, area, Edo State, has again warned that, the market spaces allocated to market men and women in the new, temporary Irrua market, at Agric Junction, Idumu-Eguare, Akho-Uromi road, should not be sold to anyone, saying; “…we allocated it to people for free, and no one should pay a dime to occupy it. Anyone apprehended selling any space, will have his/her right to such space, revoked”.

“…we cannot be working hard to make things easy for our people, while some other people, for their selfish reasons continue to make life difficult for them“.

“We will set up a Task Force to do the necessary underground work, and apprehend anyone that flouts this instruction. If you are not ready to put the space allocated to you to use, same will be retrieved from you, and given to those that are ready to put it to use”.

Continuing, Rt. Hon. Iyere revealed that, he has been getting several reports of some person selling the space that was allocated to them for free, such people are the ones that are making the space inadequate, especially bearing in mind that, the space we have already provided in this temporary market, is far bigger than the Eguare market space.

It will be recalled that the Chairman had earlier gave same warning before now, but surprisingly, today, 15th January 2026, while the Chairman went on an inspection tour to the market, a woman complained to him that, she was asked to pay a sum of twenty five thousand naira for a space.
