Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, the Chairman of Esan Central Local Government, ECLG, area, has condemned the recent attempt of those that orchestrated the Ekpoma violence, saying; "...their plan was sponsored to tarnish the image of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, but they failed woefully..."

The Esan Central local government area Chairman, made this revelation, in an exclusive chat with Esan Magazine, in Esan West Local Government Area Secretariat, Ekpoma, on Tuesday, 13th of January 2026, while addressing a mammoth crowd, in solidarity with the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the Chairman of the local government area.

Rt. Hon. Iyere, who hailed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s swift response to the recent rise in crime and criminality in Ekpoma, and it’s environ, even as the people of Edo central in particular, were getting apprehensive with respect to the rising insecurity, added that; "...this crisis was orchestrated by some persons for their selfish and parochial interest; and all those behind it will definitely face the music, as the Governor, who is the Chief Security Officer of the state, is on top of the issue".

Continuing, Rt. Hon. Iyere, who said; “…from successive kidnappings, to the killings and protests, which are all questionable, we can now, all see how desperately wicked the heart of some men can be".

"By his visit to Ekpoma, to get a first-hand assessment of all that happened, Governor Monday Okpebholo, by this gesture, has again proven that he has the interest of the people of Edo state, at heart”.

“ I see in Governor Okpebholo, a governor that is easily affected by the state of mind, and the well-being of his people. This fact is verifiable by his swift response to the people’s plight”.

“Recall that the Benin-Ekpoma road, was an eyesore. The governor is currently fixing it, despite the fact that the road is a federal road. The Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, that was almost lifeless, can now breathe some fresh air, same with the college of education Igueben”.

“What about the over 5000 teachers that were given permanent teaching status? I can go on and on. Governor Monday Okpebholo, Is responding in same empathetic way to the level of criminality that is currently going on in the state. But, we will definitely get over it.”

Rt. Hon. Iyere assured that, all those that are orchestrating crisis in Edo state, with the aim of destabilising, the polity and peaceful environment, will be exposed by God someday, and they will all be dealt with accordingly.

He however concluded by saying; “…No interest of any individual, or group of persons, is greater than our collective interest and love for peace and progress in the state. Governor Monday Okpebholo is our own, he is an Esan man, as such, we should all come together to support him, especially bearing in mind that he has been outstanding in his practical style of governance".
