The Children Christmas Party, which is the second of its kind in the history of the hospital, is the brain child of Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Eifediyi. The Chairman of the event, was Hon. Dr. Lucky Eseigbe, PhD, the Edo state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development.

In her address, Dr. (Mrs) Efediyi, the initiator of the yearly event, who welcomed the mammoth crowd, said; “… Today, we gather as a community of families, friends and colleagues to celebrate the joy, Innocence and sparkle of our children…”

“…In a world that often moves too fast, our children remind us to slow down… We honour the gift of joy they bring to our lives”.

Describing the children as special, loved, and not alone, she said; “… this party is a reminder that we are part of something bigger; a network of support, care and shared joy they bring to our lives”.

Mrs. Efediyi used the opportunity to propose a dream of therapeutic playground, designed specifically for sick children, to be attached to the new children emergency Ward, saying, the therapeutic Playground will support physical, emotional and social development.

While thanking the management of ISTH for providing the space for the project, she also solicited for the support of public spirited individuals, corporate organisations, through cash donations, and requisite equipment to actualise the vision.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director, CMD, ISTH, Prof. Reuben Agbons Efediyi, who welcomed everyone to the event, called on all to take a moment to reflect on the true essence of the celebration, saying; “… our children are indeed our greatest treasure. They embody the hopes, dreams and aspirations of a better tomorrow. It is our responsibility as a community, as families and as a society to nurture and protect them; ensuring that they have every opportunity to thrive.”

Prof. Eifediyi used the opportunity to acknowledge the visionary efforts of Dr. Mrs. Eifediyi, the initiator of the program, as well as the collective efforts of her team; saying, their dedication and passion for creating an environment where the children can flourish, is truly commendable. He added that; "...In ISTH,  we believe that every child deserves a space where they can play, learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment. That is why we are fully committed to supporting the dream of establishing a therapeutic playground for our children".

The CMD encouraged all parents, staff and community members to join hands with the management of ISTH in the noble endeavor of creating a therapeutic playground for the children, thereby allowing the children to explore their individuality and develop essential life skills, saying; "...together, we can make this dream come true".

The highlight of the event, was the raffle draws where various items ranging from Children bicycles, Cartons of Indomie noodles, Children toys, Travelling bags and Boxes were won.
