CHRISTMAS: Ugbesia Shares Rice, Meat To People Of His Ward


Today, 24th December, 2026, the home of High Chief Abudu Ugbesia, JP, was a beehive of activities as a mammoth crowd of people from Ward 1, his Ward, gathered to receive their Christmas Rice and meat.

It is a yearly tradition for High Chief Ugbesia, the Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, TMB, and an All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain in Ward one, to share food items to the people in his Ward during the Christmas season.


Addressing the crowd before the sharing of the food items, High Chief Ugbesia announced that before now, the sharing of rice and cow meat by him to the people, is not a new thing, as it is a yearly affair by him; especially during Christmas season like this. He said; "...on a yearly basis during Christmas, I must share bags of rice and also a cow for people in my Ward. But now that our governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo has appointed me Chairman of Edo state Traditional Medicine Board, I did not only increase the number of bags of rice that I am sharing this year, I have also increased the cow from one, to two cows".


"I do this on a yearly basis for all my people because every time I call on them, they respond; and for me, to be a leader, is to take care of your followers whenever the need arises".


Chief Abudu, who thanked the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for the avalanche of projects he has so far executed in Edo state within one year of his administration, also prayed that God  continually uphold the governor, guide and protect him as he take Edo state to a higher level.


Continuing, Chief Ugbesia, said; "...for me, it is humanity first. Whether it is Christian or Moslem festival, I rejoice with everyone". 


Finally, he used the opportunity to wish all Christians the world over, a happy Christmas.
