Hon. Dr. Ughulu Peter Irete Congratulates Acting Chairman, Esan West, Highlights Security, Agricultural As Priorities

Esan West, Edo State – The Chief Executive Officer of Peterete Great Enterprises (Real Estate), Hon. (Dr.) Ughulu Peter Irete, has formally congratulated the newly appointed Acting Chairman of Esan West Local Government Council, describing his appointment as well-deserved and timely for the advancement of the local government area.

In a goodwill message addressed to the Acting Chairman, Dr. Irete expressed optimism that the new leadership would usher in a new era of progress, particularly in the critical areas of security and agriculture, which he identified as pressing challenges facing the people of Esan West.

"I wish you a successful and fruitful tenure in office and strongly believe that your leadership will bring rapid development to our local government and contribute positively to the nation,” the congratulatory message reads in part.

Dr. Irete noted that Esan West is largely agrarian, with a significant portion of the population depending on farming for their livelihood. However, he raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the area, which he said has discouraged many farmers and developers from accessing their lands, threatening food production and economic growth.

"Our area is predominantly populated by farmers who are hardworking but lack the necessary incentives to thrive. The increase in insecurity has made many afraid to go to their farms or develop our land,” he said.

To address this, he called on the local government leadership to prioritize improved security measures and support for farmers. He advocated for the provision of modern farming tools, fertilizers, chemicals, and other inputs that would boost morale and productivity, potentially transforming Esan West into the “food basket” of Edo State.

Additionally, Dr. Irete drew attention to the poor state of access roads across the ten wards of the local government. He emphasized the urgent need for road clearing operations, especially along major rural routes. He pointed out that overgrown roadsides have become hiding spots for armed robbers and kidnappers, posing a serious risk to residents and commuters.

"The clearing of both sides of the roads leading to the ten wards would not only benefit users but also reduce the activities of armed robbers and kidnappers who exploit the bushy terrain for their operations,” he explained.

Concluding his message, Dr. Irete reaffirmed his support for the administration and extended prayers for wisdom, peace, and prosperity throughout the tenure of the Acting Chairman.

"May God guide you towards a peaceful and prosperous reign, and may you remain committed to the good people of Esan West Local Government Area,” he said.
