Finally, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Gets New VC

After the long Political and internal wranglings that hitherto marred the appointment and emergence of a new Vice Chancellor for Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, after the tenure of Professor Onimawo, Edo state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has finally appointed Professor Mrs. Eunice Eboserehimen as the Vice Chancellor of the University.
This development, was made known in a statement dated September 22, 2025,
issued from the office of the Secretary to Edo State Government, SSG, Barr. Musa Ikhilor.
The statement reads in part; "The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, has approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, with immediate effect."
According to the statement, the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie, was made from amongst three names recommended to the governor of Edo state by the Governing Council of the University.
Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie, is a distinguished scholar of French and Francophone African Literatures and a long-serving academic in the Department of Modern Languages at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Continuing, the statement described her as a prolific researcher and editor, with contributions to African and Francophone literary studies, gender studies, and cultural studies.
Professor Omonzejie
has served as the President of the Ambrose Alli University Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), where she has championed mentoring, research, and advocacy for female academics and students. She has co-edited several seminer works including French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa, and she is the author of Women Novelists in Francophone Black Africa: Views, Reviews and Interviews.
The statement also described her appointment as a testament to her academic excellence, administrative experience, and commitment to the growth and development of Ambrose Alli University.
Finally, in the statement, Edo State Government congratulated Professor Omonzejie on her appointment and urged her to bring her wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in advancing the institution’s mandate of producing world-class graduates and driving research and innovation.
