Edo State Governor, Approves One Hectare For Edo State TMB

Governor Monday Okpebholo, the Edo state governor, in furtherance of his interest in ensuring a healthy Edo population and moving Edo state to the next level, has approved one hectare of land for Edo state Traditional Medicine Board, TMB, for the Board to grow the herbs they need for the preparation of different traditional medicines.
Speaking with Esan Magazine, the Chairman, Edo state Traditional Medicine Board, High Chief Abudu Ugbesia, JP, who announced the government's approval of the one hectare in Uhumwode local government area, for Edo state TMB's Botanical Garden, also announced that Edo State TMB will begin by fencing the land, before planting relevant trees and helbs that are for the preparation of medicines for treating different sicknesses.
Continuing, he said; "many people have fallen back to the use of traditional medicines because they are not chemicals; they are natural, they are good for the body".
"We are going to be producing capsules, tablets and liquid medicines, and with the help of Edo state government, we will acquire all the machines that we need to effect the manufacturing of these medicines.
The Chairman, Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, also pointed out that after the Botanical Garden in the approved land in Uhumwode local government area is fully established, and operational, he will also put plans in place to secure same dimension of land in Edo North and Edo Central for same purpose; this he said, will go a long way in generating employment, create more opportunities for the people of Edo state and also put Edo state in the map of Traditional Medicines producers in the world.
Finally Chief Ugbesia cited the example of China where Chinese traditional medicines are popular around the world today.
