Ugbesia Celebrates Okpebholo, APC, Supreme Court Victory In Style

Ibore, the Ancient Town Of Fame, was on Saturday, the 12th of July, 2025 agog when High Chief Abudu Ugbesia, the Chairman, Board of Governors, Edo state Traditional Medicines Board, celebrated the victory of Edo state Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo at the Supreme Court, in a case instituted by Asuelimen Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the 2024 Edo state Governorship election, challenging Governor Okpebholo’s victory.

Speaking at the Ward 1, Esan Central Party Secretariat, in Ibore, where a mammoth crowd of APC members in the Ward, had gathered to receive decampees, including Ward 1 Councillor, Hon. Abhulimen Okpiahior, from the PDP into the APC, Chief Dr. Abudu Ugbesia, JP, the Onagbonsoboleamen of Esanland, said; “…we are glad that, today, in Ward 1, the PDP is no more in existence. Today is a double celebration, because, as we are celebrating the decamping of people from the PDP to our party, we are also celebrating the big one, which is the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo at the Supreme Court”.

“After the announcement of the Supreme Court verdict, in favour of our party, and our governor, I ordered for a cow to be brought to my home for us to celebrate the victory”.

“In view of this, I am using this opportunity to invite everyone here to a reception at my place immediately after we have received our decampees”.

At his residence, Chief Ugbesia announced to all present, that he is celebrating the victory of Governor Okpebholo, because, some persons expected that Senator Okpebholo’s victory in the 2024 Edo governorship election, will be overturned by the Court, as such, the end of his appointment as the Chairman of Edo state TMB Board of Governors, but they were all disappointed.

The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, 10th July 2025, passed the judgment affirming Senator Monday Okpebholo as the Governor of Edo state, thereby bringing to a close, the Court case instituted by Asuelimen Ighodalo, the PDP candidate in the 2024 Edo guber, challenging the victory of Senator Okpebholo in the election.
