Today, the Chairman, Esan central Local Government, ECLG, area Council, Rt. Hon. Kelvin Ainiyalenhimi Iyere, distributed full kit new uniforms including a long sleeve top, a black trousers, an inner Tee-shirt, a face cap, a pair of socks and booths, amongst others, to each of the members of Edo State Security Corps that completed various security trainings in combat, at the Police Training School, Ogida, Benin City, Edo state, as well as those that completed a two weeks Security Awareness Training, facilitated by 4 Brigade, Nigeria Army.

Speaking before presenting them with their certificates of attendance and identity cards the Esan Central local government Boss, announced that the new uniform is now the authentic uniform and that they should henceforth not be seen wearing the former uniform, saying; "anyone caught wearing the former uniform, will be arrested and dealt with accordingly".

"...the new Edo State Security Corps, is now wearing a new look, following the reorganisation of the security architecture".

Continuing, the Chairman also  announced to members of the Security Corps that, it is no longer business as usual, as the new Security Corps members are expected to ensure security of lives and properties at all time which is why they were carefully selected from the localities they are to serve in; saying, "...this is no longer time when Security Corps members are seen on highways extorting money from commuters and bike riders".

The Chairman, who informed the Security Corps members, that, security architecture of this nature, is not a business venture where you invest money and expect some profits at the end of the day, pointed out that, it is a voluntary service to the community and the State.

This new and reorganized security architecture, he said, is as a result of the irregularities that marred the operation of the former one.

"You were all carefully selected from the grassroots to enable the Chief Security Officer in the local government area, to monitor and supervise your operations and activities".

"Before now, you were not paid for your services, but with this new arrangement, the Governor of Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, will be paying you, in addition to which motorbikes and Hilux vans will be provided by the governor to facilitate your movement to the nooks and crannies of the local government area.

The Chairman warned that, the major assignment of the new Security Corps members, is not on the roads but in the flash points, and criminal hideout, so as to enable our people to go to their farms and also sleep with their two eyes closed.

Concluding, the Chairman said; "Edo state, like every other States in Nigeria, is facing lots of Security challenges, hence the setting up of this security architecture".
