Operation ‘Clean Up Esan Central’, Continues
As part of the ‘operation cleanup exercise’ in Esan Central Local Government area, as declared by the Chairman of the local government area, right honourable Kelvin Ainiyelenhimi Iyere and the environmental units of the local government area, were in Ewu market on Friday, 16th May 2025, to clean up the markets and also evacuate the accumulated refuse in the market.
After the cleanup of the refuse in the market, they proceeded to Irrua market where refuse has also been accumulated, despite the fact that it was recently cleared on Saturday, 26th of April.
The last refuse dump visited, is the refuse dump close to the ACC off Ekoyobhebhe road.
Commenting on the environmental sanitation exercise, the Chairman, Esan central local government area, Rt. Hon. Iyere said; “the cleanup exercise in central local government is a continuous one, adding that; “We cannot afford to allow the debris to be accumulated for a long time in what some call refuse dump site, especially during this rainy season.
Finally, the Chairman pleaded with the people of East Central local government area to stop dumping refuse indiscriminately, as it will go a long way in assisting the local government authority in the ongoing operation cleanup of Esan central local government Area.
The Head of Department of the Environmental unit of the local government, Sanitation Christina Egbele, revealed that, the cleaning exercise in Ewu started the previous day, Thursday, 15th May, and that, Ibore, Opoji, Ugbegun, the Uwessan axis and other areas of Esanland will be visited.
Also present with the HoD Environment, are Hon. Pastor Davies Oigbochie, the Secretary to the Local Government and Hon. Sylvester Edokpeawe, the Special Adviser to the Local Government.
