Ugbesia Hosts Committee Of Friends, To Celebrate His Appointment As Edo state Traditional Medicines Board

On Sunday, 16th February, 2025, the Chairman, Edo State Board of Traditional Medicines, High Chief Dr. Abudu Ugbesia, JP, hosted Committee of Friends in his country home in Ibore, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo state.

Speaking at the event, Chief Ugbesia who appreciated the Governor of Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo for appointing him as the Chairman of Edo state Traditional Medicine Board, also called on the committee of friends to join him in appreciating Governor Okpebholo, who he described as 'a man with the heart of gold', adding that, Governor Monday Okpebholo, through the appointment offered him, has elevated him politically. 


He prayed that God bless the Governor for his kind heart, saying; “with this appointment, Governor Monday Okpebholo has paid me for my efforts in supporting him during the Governorship election...he has paid me, paid my family and paid my friends”.


“Since I was born, I never experienced an Irrua person occupying the position of the Governor of Edo state. Okpebholo fought tooth and nail to ensure he got the ticket as a governorship candidate, and today, we all worked for him to ensure he, an Irrua man, emerge as the governor of Edo state".


Describing Governoor Okpebholo as a man with very few words, Chief Abudu also said; “Anything that comes out of Governor Monday Okpebholo's mouth, he ensures he fulfills it”. 


“I pray to God Almighty, to give me the power to manage the position that Senator Okpebholo has appointed me into".


Chief Abudu Ugbesia also used the opportunity to clear the air about the misconceptions of some people about tradomedical practitioners saying, traditional medicine practitioners are not ritualists, but tradomedical practitioners that use roots and herbs to treat sickness. He however said the wickedness of some people makes them to embark on wickedness of human rituals, adding that; “if any of our members is caught in such practice of human rituals, the whole Nigeria will see a different me, because, I will not take it easy with such a person. 


"We use roots and herbs to secure lives and take care of human beings. We do research to identify roots and herbs that we can use` in treating people. we operate under the Ministry of health".


A couple of attendees that responded include Hon. Obeimen of Ward 3, CSP --------of ward one, Unuane Isesele, aka Mc Cathy and Comrade Andrew Ulikhifoh,  of ward one.

Hon. Obeimen said; it is very glaring that you are very happy with the appointment offered you by Governor Monday Okpebholo and we pray that God give you the wisdom and knowledge to extend the good governance of Governor Okpebholo to all the nook and crannies around you. Also, Comrade Isesele aka Mc Carthy said; "I want to thank Chief Ugbesia for calling for this meeting, and also want to use this medium to draw the attention of our leaders in Esan Central local government, to the fact that the party, All Progressive Congress, APC, must be up and doing, especially going by the fact that, Esan Central local government area, is the local government area where the governor of Edo state hails from. So, we must put our house in order.
