The Publisher and Chief Executive officer, Esan Magazine and Correspondence newspaper, Mr. Peter Odianosen Iwelomen, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Edo state governor-elect, on his victory at the polls that held on Saturday, 21st September 2024.
Mr. Iwelomen, who was also an observer in the election, hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for a job well done, saying; "even though, skirmishes of some lapses were reported in some areas, such were negligible, especially when compared to past experiences".
"though, I cannot say the election is completely free, but in my opinion, it is fair enough. Senator Okpebholo, should be mindful of the fact that, in every election, there must be a winner, and whoever wins, will definitely need everyone, including his opponents.
Continuing, Mr. Iwelomen who advised the governor elect to be magnanimous in victory, by keeping an 'open door' to all, devoid of political affiliation, said; "carrying everybody along, is the only way to be a peoples governor. A governor that alienates himself and his administration from the people, will become unpopular in no time".
"Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor-elect, must endeavor to identify those factors that led to the failure of his predecessor, if any, and must avoid such in its entirety". Mr. Iwelomen said.
