By: Oriaifoh Godwins

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Esan Central Local Government Area, of Edo State, where Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial Candidate hails from, on Wednesday, 18th September, 2024, suffered a serious setback, even at the nick of time of the election, as a philanthropist of immense political value, who was a major financier of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Esanland, High Chief Chris Ekeoba aka Ten Million, leaves the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join forces with the APC.

The defection of High Chief Ekeoba to the All Progressives Congress, APC, took in Irrua, the headquarters of Esan Central local government area of Edo state.

Addressing the mammoth crowd that gathered to welcome him to the APC, Chief Ekeoba who thanked the APC members for the reception accorded him, revealed that, he is motivated to join the APC because of the sincerity of the APC gubernatorial Candidate and his interest in seeing the progress and development of Esan Central, Esanland and Edo State at large.

Chief Ekeoba said; "... myself and my supporters has seen light in this home, we have decided to be a part of this family".

"Senator Monday Okpebholo, is a man with a golden heart, and we trust he will change the narrative of our state for good".

After the event, High Chief Ekeoba joined the APC Campaign Train on a tour of some wards in the local government, where some members of his former party, resigned to their fate in frustration.

High Chief Ekeoba contributed immensely to the political success of Senator Clifford Ordia, the immediate past senator that represented Edo central at the National Assembly.

In a chat with Esan Magazine, another strong member of the PDP, in Ward 1, of Esan Central local government, who prefers to speak anonymously, said; "as it stands in Esan central today, we are yet to know what will become of Senator Ordia's political influence in Esanland. I am really at a crossroad. Anyway, let's see how it goes". He concluded in despair.
