APC Woman Leader, Others, Attacked

The 2024 Edo gubernatorial election that held on Saturday 21st September 2024, though ajudged free and fair, but with skirmishes of violence here and there, also recorded such violence in ward four in Uhe, Igueben local government area, where the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Women leader, Pastor Mrs. Ehis Ibhaguezejele was brutally beaten by a group of thugs led by Igueben local government Chairman, Engr. Clement Asuelimen.
According to reports, Pst. Mrs. Ehis Ibhaguezejele was immediately rushed to Igueben general hospital for urgent medical attention, where she was later referred to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH.
Speaking with Esan Magazine online, APC women leader, who spoke with extreme difficulty, said; "it all started when some PDP women left their polling unit, came to mine to canvas votes for PDP. I challenged them that it was wrong for them to do that on election day, only for them to resort to getting physical with me".
"They called the local government chairman who came to the scene with a gang of thugs to beat me and two others, Mr. Steve Omobude and Mr. Adia Omobude up, causing several physical injuries on us. Mine was even worse, because I was bleeding profusely from my nose".
Mr.Steve Omobude also spoke with Esan magazine. He related the same story, and added that, Mr. Osaretin, the Chairman's driver, started the attack on them, before other thugs that came with them joined. "We will not let this go just like that. The chairman and his thugs must be brought to book". Mr. Steve said.
