NGO Continues Teachers' Skill Enhancement Project in Edo.

Josemaria Escriva Foundation (JOSEF) has commenced the Teachers Skills Enhancement Project (TSEP) for selected Public Primary Schools in Esan West and Esan Central Local Government Areas of Edo state. The project is aimed at improving the quality of education through training of 60 Teachers and 10 Learning and Development Officers (LDOs) annually in the areas of innovative content delivery using the Teachers Tablets (TT), Technology-Enhanced Learning (Blending technology abd learning using the TT), writing and communications skills, enhancing self esteem, time and stress management skills, amongst others. The project has the approval of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, and funded in partnership with TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF).
Welcoming the participants to the 2024 Training session, the Chief Responsibility Officer for JOSEF Dr. Jude Obasanmi, revealed that, a total of 60 teachers and 10 Learning and Development Officers will be trained; adding that, 30 teachers will be drawn from each local government areas. Dr. Obasanmi said; "...the training session has two modules of 10 units to address the goal of the project. He thanked Edo SUBEB for approving the project which has started impacting on the teaching outcomes of teachers based on the assessment made by the Foundation after the first round in 2023. Responding, on behalf of Edo SUBEB, the Education Secretary Esan Central LGA Mrs. Esther Oni-Idialu commended the organisers and the SUBEB board most especially with the innovative creations of the SUBEB team aimed at improving learning outcomes.
In her remarks Ms. Tomi Ajayi, Edo State Officer, said "TYDF is an independent private Nigerian philanthropic grants making organisation committed to improving the quality of life of Nigerians by supporting initiatives that improve access to health and educational opportunities. On the project, she said that TYDF will fund the project till 2027 subject to the performance of the implementing organisation. She thanked Edo SUBEB for the support and partnership.
The 2024 training session kicked off earlier with the training of Learning and Development Officers (LDOs) while that of the teachers started on Saturday, 24th February at the Uwen Dova Primary School, Ekpoma, Esan West local government area of Edo state, with 30 teachers, including LDOs who attended previous training sessions and now facilitated the day's training session, Quality Assurance Officers and Head of Session School Support Services Esan West and Esan Central LGAs Mrs. Joy Aigbokhan and Mrs. Precious Ohen respectively, were present. The LDOs present are, Mrs. Eseohe Imasuen, Mrs Violet Iyoha and Mrs. Beauty Odogun, who facilitated the writing skills, Communication Development Skills and Classroom Management Skills Sessions of the training programme respectively.
Same training for Esan Central comes up later in the Week The participants are expected to take part in four sessions, and thereafter, step down the knowledge acquired, to teachers in thier respective schools and a supportive supervision by JOSEF, SUBEB (LGEAs) and TY Danjuma Foundation.
