 2024 EDO GUBER... Group again Makes Passionate Plea for Fairness, Urge All Senatorial districts to Support Edo Central

Representatives of various Esan-focused groups, including Esan New Era, Esan Sons, Daughters for Good Governance, and Esan Diaspora, again, on Wednesday, 7th February, 2024, in a national Press conference that held at the Prestige Hotel, Benin, Edo state, called for inclusivity, fairness and justice in the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial election.

"...Recent polls indicate 75 percent of Edo electorates are open to an Edo Central candidate. This is the spirit of Edo rising again, the spirit that fought for justice against oppression..."

In a Press statement delivered on behalf of the groups by Prince Emmanuel Odigie, the National Deputy Chairman of Esan New Era, the groups emphasized their call for an Edo Central candidate to lead the state, citing historical Support s that Edo central had in time past rendered to Edo North and South, but unfortunately, the marginalization that Edo central had suffered and now, a desire for equity in representation.


The group said; "We come not with demands, but with an honest appeal,"  

Continuing, they said; "For over 200 years, the people of Edo state have shared a tapestry of peace and unity. It's time for Edo Central to take its rightful place at the helm."

The statement acknowledged the right to contest elections but stressed the importance of fairness and historical context. It highlighted instances of past unity across the regions, citing prominent figures like Professor Ambrose Ali and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who received support from all Edo zones,

Odigie countered potential arguments regarding regional dominance, saying, "...Recent polls indicate 75 percent of Edo electorates are open to an Edo Central candidate. This is the spirit of Edo rising again, the spirit that fought for justice against oppression."


The groups also emphasized the expectation of loyalty and commitment from Esan leaders and aspirants, urging them to prioritize the collective good over personal ambitions.

Other persons present that represented different Esan groups at the Press briefing, include; Dr. Phillip Idemudia, Global Leader, Esan Diaspora, Oyamendare Oziegbe, the National Coordinator, and Leader, Chief Augustine Enabure, the Coordinator, Esan Mega Rally,  Comrade Valentine Uduebor, the group's Organising Secretary, and Comrade Donald Osifo, amongst others.

It will be recalled that Esan New Era had held similar Press Conferences before, and had also met with critical stakeholders across the three Senatorial districts in Edo state, as well as all the Political parties that are fielding candidates to contest in the 2024 Edo governorship election.
