Nonagenarian, Mother of Esan Magazine Publisher, Admitted Into Council of Elders

The Council of Women Elders (Women "Edion" Council) in Ivue-Uromi, Esan North East Local government area of Edo state, on Saturday, 18th November 2023, admitted Princess Mrs Asetu Iwelomen, a 91 years old mother, grandmother and great grand mother, the mother of Mr. Peter Odianosen Iwelomen, the Managing Director, Welo International Coy Ltd and Publisher, Esan Magazine into the Council of Women Elders of Ivue.
The traditional ceremony of her admittance into the Council of elders of women, held at her home, in Idumu Eghae, in Ivue.
Immediately after the traditional activities of the ceremony, was the entertainment of guests, where the Master of Ceremony Mr. Sunday Okhaifoh, described the nonagenarian as a bridge builder, a virtuous woman, who was the seventh child out of nine children of her parents late Ufua nugboke and Pa Ebhabha
The MC, Mr Sunday Okhaifoh also described Mr. Odia Iwelomen aka Welo, as his mentor, a humane individual and a cheerful giver.
Speaking with Esan Magazine, the nonagenarian’s eldest daughter, Mrs. Esther Omofoma, described her mother as a woman that brought her children up in a Godly way and with love. Mrs Esty Omofoma said; ‘…during the early years of my marriage life, my mother always admonish me to always listen and obey my husband, as the husband is the head of the Home. This precious advice has always kept misunderstandings at Bay in my home till date…’ continuing, she said her mother’s pure heart, simplicity, goodness and sincerity, has been responsible for her longevity.
Describing the nonagenarian as a precious mother, Sir Usifoh Ebhabha, Madam Asetu's nephew, said; ‘…she is my auntie. She is a virtuous woman. The fact that she remained with her husband until the death of her husband, and still in the house of her husband, even after his death, speaks volume about this fact. For me, I am happy that we are celebrating her even when she is yet alive…’
Another family member, Chief. Ted Inegbedion, the former MD, Comet Merchant Bank, on his part, said; ‘…she is my auntie, my mother’s younger sister. Mama, is a great mother to the core…’
The Publisher, Esan Magazine, Mr. Peter Odianosen Iwelomen, while expressing his appreciation to God for giving his mother the opportunity to live till date, to see his children, grandchildren, greatgrand children said; '...it is a thing of joy that we are celebrating her today, as she becomes a member of the Women "Edion"Council of Ivue Community today'
The celebrant, Princess Mrs Asetu, also spoke with Esan Magazine on factors that she thinks are responsible for longevity. She said; ‘…only God gives long life, but I have always minded my business and care less about whatever my mates are doing. I don’t bite more than what I can chew…’
‘…everyone that involves themselves in terrible things know why they do so, they know what they depend on, but for me, I believe in doing whatever I have to do, only within the limit of my ability, and thereafter, trust God to see me through…’
Barrister Dominic Okojie, a onetime Edo state Commissioner of Information, elders of Ivue community, as well as other prominent personalities were present at the event.
Madam Asetu, is blessed with eight children, including Mrs. Esther Omofuma, Mr. Ordia Iwelomen, the Publisher of Esan Magazine, Mrs. Philo Ebare, Mrs. Julie Areghan, Mr. Austine Iwelomen, Chief Godwin Iwelomen, Mrs Benedicta Hope Ifere and Mr. Eddy Adebayo Iwelomen.
