Uhomoibhi Meets his Ward Party Members, Declares Interest

Ambassador Professor Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, OFR on Tuesday, 29th August 2023, played host to the members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of his Ward, Ward 3 in his country home, Ewatto, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo state, to formally inform them of his interest to contest for the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
Addressing his people, Ambassador Uhomoibhi who began by recalling his humble beginning in Ewatto, with profound nostalgia, said, he started his formal education in Saint Anthony Primary school, Ewatto and ended up in St. Anthony College, Oxford University, in the United Kingdom, where he obtained his PhD degree. He said;
'... the name coincidence in the school i started from, in this little village of Ewatto and that of the institution where I ended up my academic pursuit in, Saint Anthony College, Oxford University, in far away, United Kingdom, signifies the hand of God... not just mere coincidence'
'...I am coming out to contest for the position of the governor of Edo state, not because of any personal reason, but because I want to bring my network of connections and my wealth of experience in governance to bear on the social, economic and Infrastructural development of Edo state...'
Responding on behalf of the PDP Ward 3 Members, the LGA Secretary General, Sir S.O Iwenamhen, who echoed the sterling qualities of Ambassador Uhomoibhi, in terms of his academic qualifications, 'intrinsic content' and integrity, said; '...all Edo People know that Ambassador Uhomoibhi is a unique politician, he is a Politician par excellence, he is an exemplary politician, compared to all other politicians...'
Continuing, the LGA Secretary General said; '...Ewatto is very lucky to have a person of unique personality like Ambassador Uhomoibhi as a son, and we are also lucky that, amongst all the other candidates contesting for the position of the governor come 2024, he stands out', saying, Ewatto is already one step ahead of others.
Those present at the event, include, Chief (Hon.) J. E Amankhian, Leader I, Mr. Ayangbe Jata, the LGA Financial Secretary, Hon. Tuesday Iyoha and Hon. Friday Oriaghe, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the ward respectively, Hon. Orlando Akhuamheokhuan and Mr. Osage Paul Ehiawanguan, the Secretary General and his Assistant respectively. Others include; Mr. Emmanuel Ehidiamen, the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Matthew Omondiagbe, the Organising Secretary and Mr. Iyere Innocent Adebayo, the Auditor, amongst several other party fateful.
